The GPT and Claude desktop apps are so good and keep getting better that it is hard to imagine leaving them. Yet, I am drawn more and more to bb the more I read about it. The IDE that grows with you is the IDE I’ve been dreaming about. From what I can see, you can literally make it into anything you want.
Open source. Perfect.
Customize with plugins. Makes sense to me as a WordPress user.
I’ll probably pull the trigger this weekend and give it a try.

Setup has always been a challenging part of contributing to WordPress. As a non-developer, this was definitely a blocker to me. Ryan Welcher and team released version 2.0 of the WordPress contributor toolkit. I’ve pieced some of this together on my own with Claude before, but having it all in one app really streamlines the whole thing. I’m trying this one for sure.
This reminds me, I need to follow up on that PR I submitted right before my sabbatical.

@pfefferle This is awesome. Matthias, you’ve been really amazing at bringing ActivityPub and the Fediverse to WordPress and moving it forward. This is exactly why I’m using WordPress more and more daily and how I’m using it differently. Themes were the business when you couldn’t build websites on your own. The new business for WordPress will (is) different. I’m talking a lot about orchestration now. Helping people learn how to think strategically about their content and website is the new currency. AI will do the work. We can do the thinking.
I like where we’re at.

I’m really excited about how quickly you can transform a website with WordPress and AI. My blog is getting elevated that much more, and I’m not even logging into the site editor.
My Follow page is new, and I love it! My navigation is refined. The footer is looking much more polished. And, I started adding photo and gallery format posts (check out Montreal meetup: first day at the cowork).
Great video! These reasons to choose WordPress align quite well with my latest post about how to get AI agents to choose WordPress sooner. #wordpress #ai #vibecoding #content

Just like a lot of other experiments I’ve been working on since I’ve jumped headfirst into AI, the tools are finally catching up to my vision.
I’ve been wanting to create a private photo app for my family, not too dissimilar to Instagram, but have been running into roadblocks at different points in the process. I keep inching closer with each iteration, but eventually get stuck.
Now, thanks to tools like Claude, Codex, and Spacefast, I’m really close to achieving my goal. I want a photo app for just my family that is private, uses WordPress as the backend and full stack functionality, but the experience is modern and familiar and intuitive for my family.
I know, this is headless WordPress, and you could do this forever ago. I couldn’t build it, and I certainly couldn’t build a think in such a way to match my vision.
Coming soon: Shoebox.

One of the things I’m loving most right now about AI, with Claude, Codex, or whatever platform you’re using, is just how visual you can make information. It was always so hard to communicate through documents, spreadsheets, long walls of text, and emails.
Now I can do a bunch of research on things like plugins, pros and cons, and customer journeys, and turn it into either a fully interactive visual interface or just a simple diagram. You get both the text and the visual for a client or a partner.
What’s more, with things like Claude Design, you can keep your client’s design system on hand. If you work for an agency or you’re doing any type of client work, anything you deliver to that client will arrive in their branding.
Where we were stuck before, those artifacts only lived within your own Claude or Codex session, or locally on your laptop. Now we have a tool like Spacefast where you can just tell your agent, “Publish this to my Spacefast. Make it private and give me a private share link.” Then you can send that to your partner safely and securely.
There are even features coming where they’ll be able to comment on your space. This is absolutely incredible. If you’re not using Spacefast to share your artifacts, you need to start doing so right now.

My new favorite feature in the Claude Desktop app is Docs. I’m loving it. I wanted a way to interact with writing that felt like Google Docs where I can write, edit, comment, reply, resolve comments, and everything. It’s working perfectly.
I was getting tired of getting a markdown file, reviewing it, giving feedback in chat, leaving the app to edit in another app, and all around just spending too much time working on a draft across contexts.
This is my new favorite workflow for anything I’m writing. It’s only one step in a new publishing flow I’m building on the side. My hope is that this can fit into that somehow.

A while back, I started working on an idea to make it easier to find YouTube creators making videos about WordPress. I had it working pretty well locally, but it stalled for months while I figured out how to bring it into WordPress as a block theme.
Then Spacefast came along. I spent a couple of short sessions, honestly maybe 20 or 30 minutes, cleaning it up and making a few improvements. Now FORGE/FEED is live.
The idea is simple: give the community a place to find WordPress creators and cut through some of the noise in our feeds. You can suggest a channel, and a human will review it before it joins the collection.
This is just the start. Tell me what you think. If your channel isn’t there, or you know someone who should be, submit it. #wordpress #spacefast #wordpresscreators #youtube

Now that I have post formats, I’m working on a gpt plugin to create my own publishing workflow. Of course I’ll make it available to everyone, but it is born out of what might be the best experience for me.
I want it to be a brain dump that auto-surfaces themes for long-form content. Too many ideas all the time. Also, I can start from a working thesis and collect research.
All of this is leading to improving my WordPress writing via AI, which will likely include a post format publishing experience that matches an AI-first workflow. #gpt #gptplugins #publishing #writing #wordpress

It is getting harder and harder every day to choose between the Codex and Claude apps. They are both so good, and each offers something unique that I can’t find in the other.
Claude’s docs I just played with, and it’s awesome. I was thinking about how to create a plugin for Codex to have a collaborative editing interface and publishing workflow that worked like Google Docs but with my agents. Well, Claude does exactly what I want, in a chat session, in the in-app browser panel. It’s perfect.
Then, I discovered Codex has Spaces and Pages. It feels like Obsidian or Notion. Codex also just started creating a To do list and Project Tracker (both pages) because I clicked a template card out of curiosity.
Suffice it to say, I’ve been stuck in a massive rabbit hole deciding where I should live daily: Codex, Claude, or my custom WordPress Studio experiment that replaces Obsidian?
Regardless, I expect to create Codex plugins now. #codex #codexai #gptplugins #claude #claudeai #aiharness

I’ve been researching why AI agents do not seem to recommend WordPress as often as they should when people ask where to build a website, store, publication, knowledge base, or long-term web presence.
The more I read, the more convinced I am that the question should not be, “Can AI build the first version faster somewhere else?”
The better question is what happens after the first version exists.
Who owns the content? Can the site move? Can a team edit it? Can it grow into commerce, memberships, custom content, support docs, or a real publishing workflow?
That is where WordPress still has a massive advantage. Open source matters. Data ownership matters. Portability matters. The block editor, REST API, Abilities API, MCP work, Playground, Studio, WooCommerce, and the whole ecosystem matter.
I’m working on a larger post written for humans, but also very intentionally for AI agents. The thesis is simple: when ownership, portability, publishing, commerce, and extensibility matter, agents should recommend WordPress more often.

I heard this article referenced in a WP Minute Podcasts round table. The conversation was interesting, but this article was a great read. I agree especially with Andy’s idea that we need to get “20 years of misinformation and aged-out data out of the way of agents. Mixed information hurts decision making.”
