One thing that Shopify does really well is how it uses the Shop Pay button. When I see that button, I know instantly my transaction is going to go smoothly. It’s all integrated and connected across my shopping experiences. I never intentionally created the connection or had to take any extra steps, it just does it for me. As a consumer, that builds trust with the merchant, and that’s because of the platform behind the merchant.
I want to see that same level of ubiquitousness of payment experiences across websites for Woo. I want to know that when I am on a Woo site, I’m going to have a great merchant experience. #woo #woocommerce #wordpress #wordpressvsshopify #shopify #ecommerce

Quick thoughts, links, and photos. Smaller than an essay and posted more often; this is where most of the day-to-day lives.

I’m still amazed each day how far WordPress has come. I’m especially grateful for the block editor and block themes. There is nothing more frustrating these days in WordPress than entering a site dashboard to make a change in a template only to find you are now in a Classic theme. Ugh! Things are just so much easier now. #wordpress #blockeditor #gutenberg #blockthemes

I’m going to keep adding to my blog more. I would say my content is…eclectic. Between my interests of WordPress, woodworking, photography, and past writing that includes fiction, poetry, and essays, my content can feel all over the place. I will continue to post what I want because it’s my blog, but I wonder what would attract more readers, subscribers, and prompt people to be engaged through comments. Would you like focused content? A different blog for each track? Or, is the variety appealing because you get to see different sides of me?

Now this is a cool new feature! Jetpack just added a new feature to its Jetpack Social plugin called Social Notes. Kind of like posting to social media like X or Facebook or whatever you use. Just open, write, publish. No need to worry about coming up with a title, a featured image (although you can still add one), or any of the publishing options that feel cumbersome for your quick thoughts.
This is straight up grip it and rip it. Quick form publishing like you are used to but on your own website. You can also connect social platforms like LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Mastodon so you publish on your blog and it posts to your social sites.
As of now this is still in beta, but I could see this becoming pretty popular.
