Jetpack is not what you thought it was

,

People might be starting to figure out something I’ve known for a while: Jetpack is awesome!

Mike McAlister, founder of OllieWP, an amazing WordPress theme with an elegant onboarding experience that WordPress core needs to adopt yesterday, was “pleasantly surprised to see how far it has come!” when choosing Jetpack for his video hosting.

It’s no secret to me because I have the benefit of using Jetpack on a daily basis, and VideoPress is just one of many features that make Jetpack a must-have for any WordPress site.

If you’re new to Jetpack, or if you haven’t checked it out in a long time, below are my top 5 features right now.

Newsletters

Jetpack’s newsletter feature makes it incredibly easy for readers to subscribe directly from your site, turning casual visitors into loyal followers. You can offer both free and paid newsletters, including multiple pricing tiers if you want to create premium content. There are simple customization options that are nice—you can tweak the content of the emails (show featured image, full post, or excerpt), edit the byline, and allow readers to reply by email and display replies as comments on the post. One of my favorite features is using newsletter categories, which allows subscribers to choose exactly what kind of updates they want to receive. It’s a thoughtful way to respect your readers’ preferences and keep engagement high.

Stats

One of Jetpack’s best plug-and-play features is its built-in site stats. There’s no need for complex setup or external tools—just install Jetpack and start seeing traffic insights right away. I especially appreciate the ability to create UTM codes to track campaign performance more effectively. The stats dashboard shows exactly where your traffic is coming from, whether it’s search engines, social media, or referrals, giving you a clear picture of what’s working and where to focus your efforts.

Forms

Jetpack’s Forms block integrates beautifully with the native WordPress block editor, making it feel like a natural extension of your content creation workflow. Because it works with the Site Editor, you can even build synced patterns that include forms, perfect for reuse across landing pages or posts. The design customization is flexible, so you can easily style form fields to match your brand’s look and feel. Plus, responses can be exported to Google Sheets, which is a huge win for keeping your data organized and accessible for further analysis or follow-up.

Social

Jetpack’s social features are a real time-saver for creators. Just like this blog, you can set it up to automatically share your new posts to your connected social networks, helping you stay consistent without needing to post manually. It also offers an easy way to create custom social share images using simple templates—perfect for making your content stand out on feeds. I also love using Social Notes for quick, informal updates that don’t require a full blog post. Plus, Jetpack lets you add social share icons and even post likes, making it easier for readers to interact with your content directly on your site.

Blocks

Jetpack adds several powerful content blocks that enhance your site visually and functionally. The Slideshow and Gallery blocks make it easy to showcase images in an engaging, mobile-friendly format. The Related Posts block helps keep readers exploring your content longer by automatically surfacing relevant articles. Jetpack also includes blocks for things like payment buttons, maps, and even markdown—making it a go-to plugin for expanding what your WordPress editor can do, all without needing extra plugins or custom code.

Guess what? I didn’t even talk about Jetpack’s AI features. Check out my featured image. This plugin is more than meets the eye.

Try it yourself

Whether you’re managing a personal blog, a portfolio, or a full-scale business website, Jetpack brings a powerful set of tools that make WordPress faster, smarter, and easier to use. From beautiful forms and media blocks to powerful newsletter tools and effortless social sharing, you can really supercharge your site. If you haven’t explored Jetpack recently, now’s the time. Check it out for yourself and see how it can level up your WordPress experience.
